360 off for repair

Ups Man just picked it up. He says they are getting around 60-80 a week just at his depot !

Yeah 3 lights. UPS man says they are turning then 'round in about a week so fingers crossed.

Hopefully you realise that all 360's are now covered for 3 years from date of purchase and that you are not paying for this one?

Yeah Neil. I had paid for the Microsoft extended warranty though so I was OK anyway. Looks like I will not be getting a refund on that but at least if the HD / DVD drive or any other component fails i'll be covered.... Apparently the new extention to the warranty only covers the 3 red lights.

From talking to my mate who is a manager at a branch of "game" if you purchased said console from them (any Game store) you can actually take it back at any point within the warrenty and they swap it from stock. They then handle the sending back to microsoft bit whilst you go home with a working console.

Not a help here I know, but worth checking out/keeping in mind by any one else who bought from said shops.

I've been looking at getting a 360, so the obvious question for me is can I do anything to prevent the thing self destructing? I've seen that the fan add ons you can get often cause more harm than good, so what can you do?

All of the new XBOX 360's should have had the extra heatsink modification made by micosoft.

Yep, mines just been sent off today - they quoted the current turnaround time as being 25 working days - but could be longer! Great!

I expect the extension on the warranty will have caused a bit of a surge in the number of returns
