I had the original Halo but, to be perfectly honest, it never really "grabbed" me. I played it a bit but got stuck quite early on (at the point you have to take over some sort of transporter device and "beam" up to a Covenant ship) and never really bothered to go back to it.

My loss, doubtless, but Halo 3 holds no great attraction or anticipation for me simply because I never played 2 and only scraped the surface of 1.

Will be buying this for definite.

Still have games nights with a few friends and 2 on 2 halo is always the most heated game.

Not really a fan of the single player to be honest but multi player is brilliant, getting the 360 soon so halo online here i come!

Def - despite being a Halo n00b, I played the beta to death. Awesome fun, especially the big team games.

I was in the "underwhelmed" camp when I played Halo on the PC. The graphics looked nice enough, but I never really got where the "combat evolved" thing came from - it was an absolutely straightforward, if somewhat tedious, FPS game with some big maps, inaccurate weapons and evil vehicle control. The bits on the alien spaceships were corridor-crawlers of the worst kind.

Far Cry was much more "evolved" - you could banzai a particular area, or you could sneak'em'up it, or half the time you could just go round it - assuming you weren't going BACK that way, of course...

Halo 3 is suposed to be amazing.
Offline play never really does it for me anyways (although gears of war campaign was amazing) However the personal shields in H3 and also the abiliy to rip turrets of the tanks and other vehicles is really really exciting. (for me anyways)

Not long ago, we bought a Samsung 32" LCD tv with HD built in and we hooked up the surround sound speakers. Running gears of war on that is just breathtaking. So halo three should be even better

I didn't realise Halo was out so soon, can't wait for this now. Although GTA IV will blow it out of the weeds; biggest, fastest selling game in history!

yes Is it coming out on multi-platform all at once? I have a 'mac' widget that is counting down to the release date (97 days now bounce ) but I fear that it will be PS3 only at the moment*, and I can't be bothered to buy one as my Dad already has, so would prefer it on the 360...

But I am still looking forward to Halo 3. I thought the first was a riot, but then my brother bought the second one so I didn't see any point in me buying it as I could just borrow it from him, but then never did.

I will of course be buying the 3rd installment however...

ETA: 360 and PS3 simultaneously!*
