xbox 360 fun multiplayer game?

I have a 360 and 2x pads. What good fun multiplayer games are out there which dont involve xbox live and can be played for hours without anyone getting bored.

The game also needs to be easy to pick up and learn quickly.

Rainbow Six is a bag of laughs... having previously played networked pc versions and my mate found it excellent fun to be had!

Call Of Duty (both 2 and 3) are also v. good fun but you have to have a friend that doesn't mind losing as there is no co-op!

For some split screen or link up giggles, earth defence force is a simple
and manic blast.It won't win any awards for depth, but it is great fun
with two players.

Get yourself onto xbox live arcade, download madtracks, spend 10 minutes unlocking all the tracks and weapons in single player, and get playing on xbox live, I swear it's hilarious. Especially on the map called "Room for dessert"
It's basically like matchbox type toy car racing, but with rockets and stuff.

Oh and get worms, huge fun there in an old(ish) school way


Yes yes I know, no xbox live But spend the 30 quid or so on that instead and you really do get the most out of games. I rarely play single player stuff these days
proper games,

R6 Vegas
Gears of War in co-op mode ( i thought the MP mode was rubbish )
Test Drive Unlimited is good for hooning around a whole Island with mates in various exotica
Forza 2 for proper simulator type car fun
Command and Conquer 3 : Tiberium wars is Great fun and looks great (no splitscreen though )

failing that, there's always guitar hero 2

Lego Star Wars is fun and very easy to pick up. My missus likes it as you get unlimited lives!!
