Hello chaps.

Following chats online while charging around, let's discuss some sensible (i.e. good racing options) and some damn silly ones.

Obviously, stock single car races are entertaining. We have those covered.
Also, limiting class and allowing people to use modified cars from garages also leads to some amusement (the sight of a heavily modified Mini trying to outdrag a supercar is always fun).

I'm thinking a little more sillyness. For example, S15 driftwork spec Sylvias around somewhere tight and twisty would be carnage.

Also, and this is stupid, but turn damage to cosmetic, split into two teams and I reckon PGR3 style cat and mouse could be highly entertaining.....

Drifting sounds good in S14's...a trick I used on Gran Turismo was to waste the back tyres for a few minutes, the start the race - that was fun!

Cat and Mouse was great on the Ring. Are you thinking 4 teams of 2 cars. Each team has a quick car and a slow car??

Pretty much, yes. The ring is a little long though. I usually go for a number of laps around a short track....

It would be cool if we all painted up some cars and did banger racing on some of the shorter tracks, like Tsukuba, put damage to cosmetic only and away you go. Cat and mouse would be really good as well, one team paint their cars red one team blue, you could also make it more interesting by having the mouse team in say class-D and the cat team in class-B, give the class-D's a head start then hunt them down.

Cat and mouse... I think PB mentioned this - could be fun.

Cops and robbers... probably v similar to your C&M suggestion - but something we did a couple of times. (though could also do the 'team racing' - 4 cops, 4 robbers - winners are the first TEAM across the line - anything goes hehe )

I also think sillyness needs to be expanded - say Class S crap cars - so no supercars/4WD jap machines.. just mini's, mk2 golfs etc...

cars that should be fwd, converted to rwd, and tuned, are usually a laugh...

could always emulate some of the 'rivalry face off' races from single player too. that might be ok online

Usually the way it works, although I tend to do 2 teams of 4. Three cats on each team (say class A cars) and one mouse each (class D). First mouse over the line wins for the team. Your team has to decide if protecting the mouse from the other cats, or beating hell out of the other mouse is the most effective strategy......

It's very silly.

seen the '73 porsche carrerra do wheelies today.
how about a wheelie compo.

shame you can't have 1 car with damage off and the rest of sim, had a good game of chicken/bowling to day on the sppedway
(1 driver goes wrong way to knock out oppos, other drivers try to avoid and finish race.)

try driving backwards, i messed up my final drive and ended up with an Audi S4 that did 180mph in reverse
(race on Newyork track)

How about a car from each class on the N'ring....Class D sets off on the green light, class C sets of in 30 or 45 seconds (or whatever) and so on until the car in class U sets off.

Race to the finish...worth a try???

Dont sound so suprisedhehe

The thought of screwing a VW Golf down the last straight on the Ring as a Enso enters the last corner and begins to fill the rear mirrors....

Timing might be a bit difficult? If we said 30secs that would be 3 mins the slowest cars would have over the faster ones. Cant quote exact laptimes but Class D is around 9:30 - 10mins so the class "U" can lap in 7 mins????

Its a quality game but last man standing is so much better.

You all start off in shitters and the last place guy has to change to a high class and try and stop 1st. End of that race the last place guy goes to a high class so there are two cars trying to stop first.

The PGR guys obviously caught wind of everyone playing this but they didn't quite implement it the same and its no where as much fun.

The silly games on PGR annoyed me, play the game the way it was developed to be played.

They should build a few game styles into the game, that way you know when you join the room what the score is.

They did that with PGR and i'm sure it will be ported over into PGR4. I'm a purist, a racing game is for racing. Maybe i shouldn't be such a stick in the mud, lolz!

Cat and Mouse on PGR3 can be really good fun, as long as everyone understands what to do. Which, in my experience is a rare thing. More often that not, 1 or 2 cats will go charging off and finish only to wonder why their team lost.
