Well, I finally bought a PS3 over the weekend. Predominantly for the Blu Ray (which in my opinion is better than 360 HD-DVD playback)

Got Motorstorm and Resistance with the deal. Will probably definitely trade in Motorstorm as racing games of any kind don't do it for me. Any good games out there worth getting or should I hold off and not be disappointed?

PS: I have a 360 and so multi format games are out of the window.

Ta!

Some good stuff coming out in the next few months, Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted: Drakes fortune, Haze. But I'd really struggle recommending anything on it at the moment other than dabbling with Resistance which you've already got. Super Stardust HD on the Playstation store (downloadable game) is pretty damn cool, cross between geometry wars and asteroids. Then Warhawk is out this week which is a big multiplayer shooter with tanks, flying machines (the warhawks) and on foot shooting, you can either download it directly from the store or buy a retail copy.

How is the Blu-Ray on the PS3?

Noise? quality?

You reckon its worth getting or not?

Edge has just given Heavenly Sword a 6.. Have to admit that the demo didn't really give you any time at all to formulate an opinion, think I completed it in about 3 minutes.

As I mentioned, I got it for the BR movies as the current range is a lot better than HD. It's a very quiet machine, looks the business the playback is very very good. You don't get any of the glitching that you do with 360 HD-DVD when the film pans. So it's worth it in my eyes. I've only watched Casino Royale on it and so the quality might not be totally representative of the BR range.

Re gaming, I still think 360 has it over the PS3 as we're into 2nd generation games (GOW, Bioshock etc) and the PS3 still needs to mature. Though I have a bet of a feeling that in a year, PS3 games may well be noticably "better/bigger/prettier" than the 360...

I'm happy now that I have the best of both worlds.

Thanks for the comments so far. Of the next batch, Haze seems to catch my eye... But I'm just hankering on Transformers to be released on BR!

....Which is never going to happen according to Paramount frown . Exclusive HD-DVD deal signed and it pi$$ed Bay off enough that he almost quit the franchise totally.

I think that when PS3 games go "second gen" I will be visiting the bank manager. Either then or when GT5 gets released proper, which ever is sooner.

Fidg - I got mine for the same reason (blu-ray) as I finally got round to replacing my TV with a 42" HD plasma.

The blu-ray is excellent, picture is stunning. However, I['ve also been amazed at how good it makes non-HD dvd's!

With a 3 game bundle from Play I paid £399. Given that blu-ray players are way more than than, it was a no-brainer.

Yeah I agree about the demo although the more I played it and got used to the controls the more fun it got. I know Play magazine (not sure which country) gave it 10 out of 10, im still not convinced though, going to rent it to see for myself.

Watched Casino Royale with GI t'other night. Have to agree the HD playback is better than the 360 drive - but I'm not going to call BluRay as better than HD, because picture quality is probably about the same.

GI I realised you need a new TV now, PS3 is 1080p so it's upgrade time! 1080p versions of the Star Wars movies due christmas I believe... Get that credit card out.

With paramount and dreamworks both going HD DVD only the format war gets more boring by the minute. Just release films on both formats and let the market decide, you bunch of gonads.

As much as I like the idea of HD gaming (in the 'new' defintion, seeing as PCs have had it for many years), I dont fancy watching freeview streched to fit 1080p...
