Try one before you buy....?
At least for the moment, it's a bit of a no-brainer if you want to play games - especially if you want to play online - as there's not much on the PS3 to keep you occupied.
Hard to control? How so? Can't say I've ever felt that way about it - the hand controller is pretty good.

I'd definitely invest in one.
If you can link it up to an HDTV and Xbox Live then you'll be laughing.
As for the controller issue, I'd say that it's better than the Playstations. (Although the PS3 does have added bonuses) but the XBox one is a lot better fit in your hands.
I'm pretty sure that Playstation have also gone more XBox style anyway with the triggers at the back.
Just see if you can play Gears of War, Call of Duty 3 or Forza online on someone elses and you'll buy it all the next day.

I've just bought one, after having an Xbox before it, a PS1 before that and a megadrive before that. I wouldn't say any are harder to control then the next, or are you talking about control pad design and peoples preference? In which case, it's people preference.
Bad reviews? I can only think you must be refering to the 'red rings of death' for which I was am under the assumption everything has been cured for new units.

Yes the 360 is good, Halo played on it comes alive, the game designers can really be appreciated when its played on a good system. Like playing your favorite album on a better standard CD player. Graphics and sound really come out. Its like playing a new game! If you don't have a HD tv like myself I recommend the Advanced SCART lead ( sold seperately)shame Microsoft don't give Europeans the option and it has to be bought seperately. Gears of War is flashy but very linear not that impressed. Forsa 2 is great!
In that case, Henry, you should definitely make a point of asking Santa for an Xbox 360 Elite, with the Microsoft steering wheel and pedals, and the play and charge kit, and the wireless adaptor, and a second wireless controller, and the top 10 games, and anything else you can think of.

Sadly it's not.People who use them in air conditioned rooms have had the red ring of death, as did ieven with a huge fan cut into the side and better thermal paste etc.
In many cases the motherboards warp due to the pressure they are put under by the heatsinks clamps
and the solder 'cracks' on parts of the board.This has nothing to do with how you treat your console or where it is positioned.
Hence heating up the consoles sometimes allows them to work again for a while as the solder reflows so to speak.
This is also why the xclamp mods people do can bring a console back from the dead.
The 360's lifespan is pretty much like a human one.It could go today, tomorrow or could
go on for years.
The reason MS extended the warranty on the consoles was due to the fact they realised their was a design fault.
A never ending supply of returned dead consoles finaly made them admit they had a problem and could no longer
pull the wool over the public eye with all that "acceptable failure rate" rubbish.
It's still agreat machine however, i love mine, you just have to accept that death is a serious possibility.
I have owned the majority of consoles since the original Sega Mega Drive and must admit that the Xbox 360 wireless controller is the most comfortable controller for use over long periods of time that I have ever used. The shape fits the contours of your hand perfectly, the controller itself is nicely weighted and well balanced, and the buttons are easily in reach for all your finger. Also the analogue 'trigger' buttons are a huge advantage if you love racing games ... A must for Forza 2!
Forza 2 was enough for me to purchase a 360! Excellent game - A little difficult to master at first, but give it a few hours and it is very rewarding! Also the PGR series are a good 'arcade' style alternative. PGR4 will be released this October.
