WW2 Flying Game

I've recently become really interested in all things ww2 flying/bombing/dog fighting.I feel a bit like that fella off little britain who asks for films that haven't been made yet, but ideally I'm after quite a varied range of planes and missions. Any recommendations for either ps2 or xbox ?

If you have a PC, try Battlefield 1942. You can fly a variety of aircraft but also drive tanks, jeeps, APCs...

Let me know, so that I can "pop a cap in yo ass, old bean".

PS if you're looking for a proper flight sim then this isn't one!

I love WW2 flying games too, but, there s only one that ticks all the right boxes and then some. Unfortunately, this is only on PC, IL2 1946 - it is simply superb. It is very hard to take any others seriously after playing this game/sim. I am sure all consle flying games are more 'arcade' than sim, though

Yep IL2 is a superb game. ive been playing it since it came out in 2001, and they are still expanding it, it's so detailed that no other game comes remotely close to it. also the on line play is very very good provided you know how to get into the servers.

Go for il2:1946 if you can find it, that's the latest and greatest version

IL2 is good, but for pure simulation I'd give "Battle of Britain II" a try. Especially worth it with TrackIR.

I actually find Il2 with all the options turned on much more indepth than BoBII. Surprising how some of the planes were almost unflyable on the limit.
