My thoughts exactly what went on?
Also I think Halo 3 is the shortest game Ive ever played too! I dont get developers these days they spend years writing a game engine and creating character models, etc and then knock out a really short game at the end, why? I seam to remember the first 2 Halos went on forever!

Just finished the original last night on the PC and having no Xbox 360 will probably never get the third...
The original is quite a long winded and repetative game (but great fun to play) driving the warthogs is so confusing to start with too. still loved every minute of it.
On the PC, I honestly couldn't get the hang of driving the machines. The whole 'mouse steer' thing freaked me out after HL2 and such. Pretty much the reason I gave up on the last level (timed level, which I hate, mouse steer, which I hate, obstacle course, which I hate). I declared victory and uninstalled. Money. Look at it this way, a few years ago you could write 'Harry Potter' on a box and drop a huge turd in it. The thing would have flown off the shelves regardless. Same with Halo. It might only be, say, 8 hours long, but you brought it... didn't you?
Yeah but £40, maybe I should have rented it for £3.75!

You ended it before you'd sat through all the credits, didn't you...
Big mistake!
yeah...Big mistake!
what did i miss? (and can i go back and see it?)

I watched all the way through to the love, Bungie bit, and unless the shiny shiny Elite is meant to have a gold visor....
Basically, you have to watch until after the ending credits.
MORE SPOILERS ALERT: DON'T READ UNLESS YOU CAN'T BE BOTHERED TO PLAY FOR 6 HOURS (shortest game ever award)
The portal closed on the back half of the frigate when it escaped the halo (the halo firing caused the portal to shut). If you watch it back, the crashing frigate in the sea is much smaller, and kinda... in half. Thats because the other half is back on the other side of the portal. Cortana takes control of a cryo tube and the chief goes inside, putting him back exactly where the game series started. The ship floats off into the darkness with chief in cryo stasis type state and Cortana presumably playing whatever Solitaire looks like to an AI in the year 2600.
If you complete it on legendary, you get another 10 seconds after this where the unpowered half-ship is floating towards the night side of a planet full of lights and some dramatic music.
Too bloody short.

Ahh they went for the Unreal ending rip off then. For those that never completed the original Unreal, Vortex Rikers crash -> Run around planet -> Skaarj escape pod, end game. The scrolling text leaves no doubt that you're going to die and drift for eternity. Unreal 2, ripped that off as well.

Well one good point about the ending is its not the flood level....
Majorly sucky single player game, takes the genere back half a decade minimum, havnt bungie played Far cry, HL2 etc?
I found HL2 to be a similar experience. Fight from checkpoint A to checkpoint B, encounter weapons cache at checkpoint B, die between B & C, repeat until you've learned the location of the enemies, complete level. It was fun, but too short.Majorly sucky single player game, takes the genere back half a decade minimum, havnt bungie played Far cry, HL2 etc?
