Plasma and video games

Im thinking of buying a LG PC55 plasma 42" telly, prefer the plasma picture.However I also want to play PS3 games using HDMI (1080I). Can anyone tell me how plasma's compare to LCD's when playing games ?

Usually have faster response times and you'll get scare stories about screen burn, but generally anything over about 40" is the plasma domain and smaller is LCD.

I wouldn't use 1080i though, either get a 1080p set and use that or use 720p as it is smoother.

Don't know about that plasma but my brothers got a 42" Panasonic plasma connected to a PS3 which looks amazing.

Just run it in for the first few weeks on low contrast and brightness and trying not to keep any static images (game HUDs, or TV channels with bright white static logos) showing for more than an hour without a break. As this is when the screens are must suseptable to screen burn. After that just don't have it too bright with games that have persistant (espeically white) images on the screen, and take breaks/ don't play the same game for hours on end - God I sound like my mum

Playing games you might get a bit of screen retention but nothing permanent. Early Plasmas were notorious for screen burn but I think as long as you are carefull it's a thing of the past with the latest models.

For games a progressive signal is much better than interlaced, so if that TV doesn't accept 1080p (and even if it does as only a few games on PS3 support 1080p) you would be better playing at 720p rather than 1080i.
