Scratched Discs

Got an xbox360 game which looks scratch, does any one know any ideas to repair it. i read that brasso could do the jobie..

I would try toothpaste first then move onto Brasso if that doesn't work.

I've got one of those hand crank disc polisher jobbies that seems to work fairly well.

Toothpaste is a very mild abrasive, like a polish. Note "Dibasic calcium phosphate" in the ingredient chart on this webpage:

I was just suggesting that you start out with a very mild abrasive and work your way to more aggressive. Toothpaste is recommend quite often when you Google for "Repair scratched CD/DVDs" as is Brasso. It's fairly inert so I'm thinking it couldn't do any harm. Brasso has some petroleum distillate in it which my not be very good for the plastic the disc's are made out of.

Remember to work across the disc instead of around it, the lazer has an easier time working with defects that run across the Data layer spiral tracks rather than with them.

As I said in my first post I use one of the hand crank polishers, It's an old Memorex Optifix, I think. It comes with a liquid polish that reminds me of "Pearl Drops" tooth polish.

I can recommend the Skip Doctor, Does a good job as long as the scratches are not too deep. It managed to make quite a few of my unplayable music cd's come back life, it's payed for itself a few times over (Got mine from Maplins).

Go Toothpaste! it's just fixed my Forza disk, which was going back to the shop this weekend.

Your a life saver! just discovered last night that my second copy of crackdown has a huge bloody ring like scratch on the outer perimeter and i was sweating about how i could get it replaced. Talk about good timing.
