Finally decided to take the plunge & buy a PS3 this weekend, but really only want the 60gb version specifically for the backwards compatability.

Can't find one anywhere now, unless I want to pay £450 for one frown

will have to try hunting a bit harder, don't really want a 2nd hand one either.

Oh well heres hoping Sony decide to start making them with backwards compatability again.

You could try Woolworths - try and find a store in the sticks, they may well have stock.

I must admit im less interested in one without the backwards compatibility. There doesnt seem to be that much for the ps3 and i have a nice collection of ps2 games... GRand theft etc... OK i could leave both connected to the tv but thats messy

You won't be able to play all the PS2 games even on the old 60gb model, I'd say that about 1/2 of my PS2 games play on it, and a fair share of those have a number of problems when running on the PS3, some of these include game-stopping bugs, like one boss in Kingdom Hearts 2 that was un-killable, due to an error in the emulation.

Have you tried Argos - I thought they still had a few in stock - try online, you can check all local stores to you.

So it is true that the 60GBs are discontinued?

Yeah the Game in Windsor had one, but I'll be damned if I'm paying £450 for it.

I may just buy the 40gb instead & still have the PS2 set-up too.

The guy in the Sony store said there were rumours of an 80gig being released, but I don't know if that has backwards compatability either.
