Int GT Legends brilliant?
Bought it for about a fiver a few weeks back and I've become slightly addicted. The general physics model is superb, even if the car-to-car variation is a bit suspect - the Austin Healey 3000 and the Mustang in particular seem to handle far better than I would immagine a car running crossplies on a live axle would do! Nonetheless it is great fun and very atmospheric. Then there is the noise...
I know it's deeply sad to be playing this whilst my own roadable racing car stuck in the garage, but it's such a laugh.
My only complaint is that anyone who can even vaguely keep the car on the track can walk the first 3 difficulty levels. That and the fact I can't actually find the race distance listed anywhere, so I'm always having to guess on the fuel load!
It's quite pleasing to have such a user friendly, almost arcade-like, interface on a game with a first rate physics model and decent driver AI. Very absorbing.

Well you're about 2 years late
but yes, it is brilliant! I'm almost tempted to take it up again (need to reinstall it after I wiped everything with Vista, oops). There's aftermarket tracks which are interesting - I've played a lot of virtual castle combe, it's my local track so pretty neat. Download it somewhere on the web, it's made by fans. Plus it's a great fast track to boot.
Oh and check out online play. There used to be a lot of fun racing on the beginner servers in the minis and Fiat abarth things. Do we still have PH racing evenings on this?
Anyone know if there are any other new tracks I should check out? Nurburgring maybe (maybe, not sure if I'm bored of it after it's been done to death in racing games recently), or some comedy stunt-type tracks with jumps etc?

You could try this one http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=191...
Registration is free it seems - I'm also in the process of downloading LeMans and Cadwell.
...If you think that is old fashioned, I have a grand prix legends CD kicking round somewhere
Apart from the fact I like old cars, the skinny treaded tyred handling that they model on things like GTL seem to be far closer to what I've experienced in real cars. The F1 sims might be good too, but I've never driven a slick shod, winged racer to compare it to.
