....OMFG!

it starts like this:

load the demo.. your car is parked in the middle of hte street with the engine off.. some american dude says "hold R2 to start your engine"...

DON'T DO THIS.

First.. plug your PS3 into the best sound system in your house, and crank it right up to 11.. wait for the guy to finish speaking, and make sure you don't have any other distractions...

Now.. hold R2.. 'till your ears bleed!

Make no mistake.. no game has ever made a yank V8 fire up quite like this! I'm pretty sure there were even spits of flame out the side of my PS3 on the overrun..

Needless to say, the rest of the game is pure Burnout fun..

looks so gorgeous it could make you cry, the SOUND, eyes-bleeding speed, IMMENSE crashes with awesome real-time crumpling, all with a bit of that GTA 'drive-like-a-lunatic-where-you-like' freedom thrown in for good measure...

I suggest you all start the download now!!

P.S. There's network play in the demo too.. so who's up for a battle!?!??

Yeah the engine sounds OK (on the 360 wink ).

It's an odd blend of Burnout Revenge and Need For Speed Most Wanted.

Same problems as all Burnouts tho - the cars frown

360 one is refusing to network, just says "connecting to paradise city servers"

Got bored of single player mode, only seemed to have about 3 challenges and then a small patch of city to drive around on your own.

Great fun. just spent the last 2 hours dicking about with a mate online doing allsorts of mad stuff (jumping off the car park roof and crossing over is fun). Think the full game will be excellent

I'm thinking its getting close to the time when I should think of a console at home, this looks kinda good, but will it have any longevity?

Burnout Legends on the PSP was absolutely fantastic. Bunrout Dominator on the other hand was dire in single player, but quite enjoyable in multi-player.

I think it should have plenty of longevity, I've spent hours on what is quite a limited demo, trying to nail double barrel rolls and get all the burnout billboards in record time etc.

Thing is it going to be good ol burnout but with the free roaming element added so plenty of mess around and replay value

...have I missed something, or do you HAVE to sit through the intro stuff every time you fire up the demo, inc the tutorials etc etc... it doesn't seem to save anything you do....??

I downloaded the demo last week, it's is good fun, racing around beating the (3) challenges and just finding big jumps, power parking, etc. thumbup

The sound is F A N T A S T I C set to loud music

Last night I tried online and Wow, it just adds another demension to the whole thing... competition! Battling it out for top honours of longest jump, most near misses, biggest flat spin, longest powerslide etc. It's so compelling, and that was with people I didn't even know nuts

This is gonna be a must buy in January with the online races bounce Especially over the left side of the Map driving

There isn't any online racing on the demo is there?

Yeah you can race mates and random people.

Might have to get this to tide me over until Resident Evil 5 at the end of March, which will tide me over until GTA4 at the end of April.

I got bored of the single player part of the demo fairly quickly so decided to join in with some randoms off the net. Made things much more interesting.

Any PHers want to get together and have an online game at some point this week?
