Xbox connection problems

Just tried setting up my mates new xbox connect the HDMI to HDMI lead and the TV switches itself off and on off and on etc (Toshiba 37" LCD)
any ideas?

Sounds strange the set is turning on and off ? I have this problem sometimes with my plasma and that's related to a dodgy earth.

It just trys to go into standby then back on again the standby etc just taken it home pluged it into my TV works perfect is there a set up that is required on the toshiba?
