Hi,

Bought my big 1080 toshiba x3030 LCD HD today, set everything up, but don't get any picture, just the blue screen, I can get sound. My xbox360 has the component cable and i plugged all 3 video(green, blue, red) and 2 audio leads into the corresonding component video input slots. Switch the tv to the 3component channel(before turning on the xbox) but i only get the sound and a blue screen, and yes my xbox component lead is switched to hdtv mode.

Only way i can get any picture is plugging into the side panel with the basic yellow lead, and only when I flick the component cable back to TV mode. Seems I cant get any picture when in HDTV mode on the cable and therefore can't set the xbox to 1080 mode in settings. Surely I should get a picture though even in 420 mode.

Bah, any help greatly appreciated.

Tanks,
Craig

But SCART isn't HD, it's SD.
Can you borrow another 360 or Component cable to try, in case the TV has a fault.
Also, are there any settings to turn progressive scan on/off on the TV?

AH! you've set the 360 to 1080p output, haven't you?
No can do over component - HDMI only.
Drop it down to 720p, and job's a good'un.

I use the VGA cable on my Tosh TV. Could be worth a look.

Took my box and cable to a mates place. It worked fine on his 720 telly, and we set my box to 720. Got home, cable set to HD plugged into the ONLY red green and blue slots marked component 3 , and still nothing. No menu settings related to component 3 , should just be a simple plug and play port..

I have a feeling the component inputs or processing must be the prob. Why do you hate me Father Christmas !!

Sounds like a prob with the telly, seeing as the 360 worked on your mates tv do you have any other gadgets that connect via HD component leads so you can check? And is it 100% all connected to the right inputs and all pushed in properly?

If you just want to get it working get an HDMi lead if your 360 has the output, see if that works. Don't be tempted by the VGA lead, it's a completely pony picture, I bought one after being told it was a great picture and after 10 mins went back to the component cables as it looked awful and washed out.

The washed out thingy was fixed in the recent update. It only affected some tellys, and now under system settings there are 3 different settings you can use to compensate.

Is the 50/60hz setting thing correct?

Try setting the xbox to conservative settings on the yellow composite wire and see if you can sort it like that, then ramp up the res.
