Gaming Headset - What do you use/recommend?

Hi all, hope you're well. Looking to get a new gaming headset, done loads of YT reviews but yeah wondered what everyone using? Must be wireless, i hate wires. my two im looking at are the following - Nova 7 Gen 2 or Arctis Nova Pro

only thing people saying is the mic is bit.....meh...on them. apprently the Steelseries 3 & 5 had great mics.

I've been using Arctis 7X for a number of years now and sound wise, they're brilliant. Nice features like chat/game sound balance and EQ presets. My one gripe has been the retractable mic where when fully retracted, occasionally doesn't pick up. Given how rarely this happens though, I've stuck with it purely based on the sound quality and connectivity.

+1 for Arctis 7, had mine since 2020, replaced the earpads twice as I use it for both work and gaming. Extremely comfortable to wear for hours at a time, great sound and nice long wireless range too.

I've just retired my Arctis 9x due to a broken hinge and replaced them with the Arctis Nova 7X Gen 2 and the mic isn't as good. Sound quality is pretty good and the app is a nice touch, but I haven't really played with it too much. Battery life is great.

Can't complain. I don't need ANC, so didn't go with the Pro's.

I use them for work and gaming.

I also have the same question because I m in the market for a wireless gaming headset too, and choosing between the Nova 7 Gen 2 and Nova Pro is not as straightforward as it looks from the reviews. Wireless is definitely the way I d go for gaming like minecraft https://actionandstuff.io/ especially if you don t want to constantly deal with a cable getting in the way. For me, the main things I d compare would be comfort over long sessions, wireless range, battery life, sound quality, and especially microphone quality. A headset can sound amazing for games but still be disappointing if the mic makes your voice sound compressed or unclear when talking with friends.

Wireless, lightweight, active noise cancellation, good battery life, detachable mic, supports spatial audio if you like that kind of thing.

Downsides are not as loud and not as bassy as others. I guess they have to shave the weight from somewhere.

I'm currently on the look out for a replacement to my wired astro A40s. I looked at the nova pro wired and was mighty tempted to buy it. I don't like wireless as I want something to last me 10+ years (like the astro has). That said, the Audeze Maxwell 2 seems to kick ass against every other wireless headset out there. I haven't bought it but the praise it's gotten has it being my no1 choice before I buy a PS5 for GTA6.

Only downsides reported are its weight, closed back speakers (if that bothers you or not, i like open). The batterylife is huge, however it doesn't have swappable batteries. many seem to say its in another league to the nova pro.
