....... into D70 ownership today! I'll have to wait for delivery from Canada, but the savings should be worth it. I'll post final cost once I know if import duty is going to be added.

I've gone for a Body only kit! I have a Nikon F50 so the lens off that will get me started. I'm looking to get some decent used lenses of ebay with the cash I have saved once it arrives. I already have a 512 memory card I got off ebay for £27. I shall get another and a spare battery fom HK or somewhere.

I know the 800 is the recommended flash gun. Can anyone recommend any others that will get me startd? The D70 has s-t-r-e-a-c-h-e-d my budget and I need to rein in on what I spend on such extras! I'm happy to go the extra on lenses and I have seen some excellent stuff buried in amongst the run of the mill.

I just hope the postie gets a hurry up now!

Good man!

Canada, eh? It must be a really good deal with exchange rates as they are.

I think the other Speedlight is the 50DX, but someone who knows about these things is sure to be along in a minute.....

Just worked it out at £485 inc P&P. I may need to pay VAT on that, but being VAT registered it is swings & round-a-bouts. My company have identified a need for a digital camera!

After you have taken out a new-for-old policy?

Another survivor is plucked from the seas of EOS-dom and into the waiting Nikoncopter...

Welcome aboard
The Speedlight SB800 is not cheap, but if you can live with a little less power and no slave facility there's the SB600 which is quote a chunk less. Sigma and Metz also make D70-compatibles but I stayed with the Speedlight 'just in case'.
The other thing I'd add is - take the time to read the D70 manual from start to finish and try to get your head round all the functions. DSLRs are complex machines and your photography will be much more satisfying - and better - if you understand what the camera is doing.
Congrats, you made it!

Yup, just look at the 'quaint' (old and clunky) copter...

Seriously there isn't really a bad DSLR and you'll ahve a blast with it.

You can tell it's a Nikoncopter because it's so oldfashioned, bulky, heavy and downright ugly!

Martin.
