I'm getting better at seeing pictures, and am getting happier every time I download the images off my camera. Here are a couple I took yesterday:

top down

side on

I like the flying, but not the background in this one.

It's a monsters world

What do you think? They look much better full-size, would tighter crops work better or not? The flying one is a bit grainy due to it flying, but still chuffed the way it came out.

Nice. If the camera allows it (not sure with the A70 yes?) override the aperture and make it as wide (low F-stop) as possible. The depth of focus will be really shallow then and brings the subject out more.

ok example :-

ooo, that looks nice!
Yes it's the A70, I can control the aperture manually (hence why I got this camera). The lens can get to 2.8 - 8 with shutter speeds of 1/2000 - 15seconds.

I'll open the aperture up and play again next day with good light

Your photos are definatley getting better every time. I think we can all relate to the satisfaction of seeing a photo you took that comes out exactly as you saw it. Nice one.

Hmmm, tempted indeed. I'd love to find a way of doubling my 35-80. Don't want to spend much on the camera as I'll go DSLR in time but this could be a good thing to have in the meantime...

You should see what you can get if you tape a 50MM lense backwards on the end of another one. I'll dig out some examples.

Sounds interesting.

I have a load of lenses and an old manual SLR at home. Would be good to experiment.

No no no no no!
No more developing costs. Must save for 300D!

The pain of it is you get a depth of focus of about 2MM.
