I see Canon is advertising the EOS300D on telly as a 'new' camera... surely it's been around for a year or more? Or clearing stocks for a replacement?

A reliable source has mentioned that the 300D "might" be replaced as Canon are supposed to be losing a lot of sales to the Nikon D70 - The D70 looks a lot more robust is the official line.

Looks as if Jessops are also winding down stocks of the 10D - watch for a replacement soon.

Yep, I reckoned that but as I have a D70 on order didn't want to gloat. (Well I did really!)

I'd guess they'll tweak/consumerise the 10D and repackage it at D70 money. But hopefully keep the silver plastic so it still looks like a toy !

I was under the impression that the advert was just part of Canon's advertising package from the euro 04 football championships, where canon were a main sponsor.

the 300d is the model most suited to those who fancy the switch from point and shoot, so it makes a little more sense to push that in an ad as opposed to the 1ds.

mind you, i own a 300d so I would say that
it doesn't look as toy town if you stick the battery grip on the bottom of it ;P

I saw this advert.... and then promptly spent the best part of half an hour trying to convince Mrs Meeja that the 300D was not a new product.....
