DVD Ripping

I'm looking to actually use my new DVD player. How do i go about extracting a video DVD into playable movie files.
The furthest i've got is to a set of .vob files.

Any reccommendations?

You need a program called dvddecrypter to remove the region encoding and then something like dvd2one or dvdshrink to compress the extracted files to less than 4.7GB. All software available in the usual places

The resulting files are then burnt with something like Nero.
