I've spent some time googling and looking around online for courses to learn more about photography but thought a few people on here may be able to give me some advice from there own experience.

I travel often so I'm looking to find a online course to learn and understand more about photography and hopefully editing ( lightroom ) I have a general understanding but now wish to learn more. Mainly about the histogram and white balance and the more in depth aspects of a photo. Then additional aspects of photography such as astro and image stacking. This in time will hopefully lead into more understanding of time lapse as I'd like to follow onto a videographer course.

Any advice hints or tips?

Have you looked at Kelby One? Lots of tutorials on there from beginner to expert level. I usually subscribe for a few months in my quiet season to top up a few skills.

If you want to study video, go there direct, not via astro or timeplapse. It's quite different from stills as live action needs a beginning, middle and end, editing and of course the amateur's bugbear, sound.

There are lots of on-line courses. I would personally recommend those offered by Institute of Photography which will cover most of your basic needs plus further courses available to include editing and Lightroom etc Really professional and tailored to your needs with constructive feedback and encouragement. There are often "special offers" either on site or through third parties such as Amazon. Worth a look.

Lynda.com has superb range of courses - both from a technical and artistic perspective.
