Talk to me about the Canon G7x
Discussion
Hi all
I'm about to pull the trigger (or press the shutter?) on one of these. I've read a lot about them and I can't find any major downsides to them with the exception of the viewfinder which I'll have to learn to live with. It will be replacing my old 400d that I find I'm not using as its too bulky and I don't have a big enough range of lenses for.
I would appreciate any comments from owners either way. Likes? Dislikes? Would you buy again? I've seen a few places selling them at very competitive prices for grey imports. Apart from the dubious delivery times are there any other points I should note?

I've been looking back and forth at both the G7X and RX100 over the past few weeks and there doesn't seem to be a huge amount to pick between them. The EVF on the RX100 III is just about winning things for me at the moment, but if that's not a priority for you then the G7X generally seems to be pretty well matched.
There was one other consideration for me which was putting me off slightly- the amount of correction apparently going on for the G7X at wide angles:

The fact that the G7X is having to correct (and therefore upscale) the corners of the images so much more than the Sony was a concern for me, especially as I tend to shoot at wider angles a lot. There is a definite difference in corner sharpness between the two, although to be fair the G7X does give you more reach.
Possibly something to bear in mind, although the price difference between the two could make things more even!

I see what you mean about the lens correction but I don't shoot raw and if the electronics do a decent job of correcting then I guess that's ok. There's always going to be a compromise with a camera this size doing so much.
What were your preferences over the Sony when used side by side?
