New HD Digital Camcorder - AVCHD or MP4?

Hi Guys,

What is the best format for recording in? I have a Canon Legria HF G30 camera.

I know your answer will be something along the lines of it depends what software I use to edit/store but I haven't decided on that yet, either!

Am thinking of taking the plunge and buying a 15" MacBook Pro but like I said, haven't decided just yet.
