Need to return to editing a few years after I last played with it.

Any advice on inexpensive software. Probably does not need to be full of features, but I've possibly going to have to teach my wife how to do this at a later date so simplicity may be key....

If you're using a Mac then use the iMovie video editing software which is included with it. Excellent bit of kit and very easy to use.

Is also available for iOS for use on your iPhone or iPad, link is: http://www.apple.com/uk/ios/imovie/

Photoshop creative cloud?

May as well learn the industry standard software if you're going to bother learning anything at all. And for £9 a month, it's hardly going to break the bank. Plus you get Lightroom included too.
