Afternoon all,

Have been enjoying the aerial photographry thread and have got my hands on a Hobbyking DJI type drone. Having raced r/c cars many years ago, become office champion helicopter flyer and a small drone for Christmas the flying of it has been pretty intuitive and I'd say my handling skills are pretty good.

Through word of mouth and chance meetings with people in the park (both were architects who said 'we could do with one of these for work' plus a couple whose dogs were very keen to take a closer look at the drone) there seems to be an underlying market for someone with a drone & GoPro which from what I've seen can take decent enough images for use in marketing material and websites.

What I'm trying to find out is a. has anyone else gained their PFAW and b. with a view to setting up something on the side at first but with longer term vision - is it worth it at the minute? To me it would be an ideal job - spend a day flying, filming in different locations, coming up with the flight plans, as much geekery as you can handle and liaising with directors to get the footage they want etc.

My two penneth - the CAA and police are becoming increasingly aware and strict on the matter and to be one of the 'few' with a CAA licence would put me in a good position?

Or will the increased restrictions/monitoring simply hamper development of the industry as a whole? The scope for drones certainly seems to be there - uses range from farming, building surveying, photography & emergency services to name a few.

Thanks!
