Does anyone have one?

If so, how do you find it? I'm currently with Canon and am contemplating a switch over to Nikon mainly for this lens.
90% of my shooting is wildlife / birds, I use a 5D3/1D3 and 500 f4 IS (version 1) and would be looking at a D810 and 200-500 (plus 14-24 and 70-200 2.8) to replace it with.

You might be better off looking at the D750 for shooting birds, its supposed to have better AF system than the D810 (unless you really want the resolution of the D810)

Cant comment on the 200-500

It's comparable with the Sigma 150-600mm Sport especially if the focusing is fine tuned (in most reviews the Sigma would have been shot out of the box).
I wouldn't be switching systems because of that one Nikon lens when you have the Sigma available. I already shoot Nikon and I am bias towards own manufacturers lenses but I would seriously consider the Sigma over the Nikon.

Honestly if you are used to a 500 prime the 200-500 is going to be a serious step down isnt it?

its a 2.5 * consumer zoom and not expensive at that.

Much better off with the sigma 150-600,even the consumer one of those is pretty solid.

There's also the Tamron 150-600 to consider, the shots in this album were taken with this lens on a D800....

I did consider waiting for the 200-500, but went with the Tamron instead. I can't say I'm disappointed.

Thanks all, maybe I'm expecting too much from the Nikon.

It would probably make more sense to look at the 100-400ii or Sigma Sport to use alongside my 500.
