Anyone have any recommendations for stores here? I'd like to have a look at a few cameras but not sure of the stores here yet. All I can think of is London Camera Exchange?

If you're after a haggle, pop into a few of the stores down Tottenham Court Road.

Grays of Westminster.

If you get to go downstairs (or look online) it's like a sweetie shop on steroids........

What kind of cameras/budget? Jessops are probably worth a look. Most of the other chains I knew are gone now.

Ideally I'm after a London equivalent of B&H if thats possible. With upcoming holidays I'm trying to find a good compromise that will suit all my needs. Lightweight but durable. Budget won't stretch to full frame as Id rather have a DX and 2 lenses. A nice prime and a medium zoom. After selling my last DSLR and my road bike currently on eBay I should be bale to do it. Of il put it all down as a just a deposit on a 5Dmk3 or a AR7mkii

Microglobe are another in the same general area not far from the British Museum.

Having said that, in terms of prices, it might be worth checking out HDEW Cameras
Although I believe they are grey imports, they are actually based in the UK and have a shop in Surrey should you want to order over the phone and pick up from there. They provide extended warranties which do not require return to Hong Kong/China.
They have a good reputation, and I have no complaints with the Canon 5dmk3 they supplied at a good price.
Just a thought.

I thought you'd bought everything in there ages ago!

I suspect the mahogany cabinets and be-tied assistants mean they are not quite bargain bucket though. Earl Grey or Lapsang sir? spin

You'd be surprised. Yes, I paid (a premium) on a new model body when it came out, but a secondhand one I haggled down the ticket price.... My best bargain though (a few years back) was getting a secondhand 17-35mm AF-S for only £700. (Again haggling to ensure I got a lens hood but not a fancy box....

(I think I've effectively got 3/5 year warranties too)

But OP didn't want Nikon/Nikkor, probably; I just reacted to "camera + London"!!!

Its looking like I may aim for Fuji Film XT1. I really like the styling and as a bundle I could afford a decent lens with it. My original intention was to get something not bulky so I was trying to stay away from DSLR and I think this is a good compromise. I did consider an Sony RX111 but I'd like more hands on manual control.

Park Cameras at either of their stores, very knowledgeable and certainly not pushy, and leave you to have a good look around the various cameras of your choice and add comments when needed.
