sports lens for my sony a450

Have had my A450 pretty much since they came out so quite an old design compared to those who like to change every couple of years. However, on the basis that there's no cheaper camera than the one you already own, and having soldiered on with the kit lens and nothing else I thought it was about time I added something zoomy for motor sports events etc.

So does anyone know what good value (secondhand?) medium telephoto zooms are worth looking out for on the likes of ebay etc ? I've just been reading a review of a sigma 75-300 that gets pretty poor reports at the longer end so I thought rather than sit through every review of lenses that fit Sonys I would see if the knowledgeable PH collective could steer me in the right direction.
Budget? say up to 200 pounds so Im really looking at secondhand lenses. Some new Sony glass is eye wateringly expensive for a pure hobby-snapper like me.

The alternative would be to sell the sony body and kit lens (for peanuts??) and jump on the more common names, but I know the sony now so well it seems a shame to jump ship for the sake of a zoom lens ..

any ideas what lenses to look for ?

The Sigma 70-300 was a very cheap lens.

What lens do you have now?

What range are you looking for?

Have you taken a look at the dyxum website?

Always worth taking a look at some of the older Minolta glass it will work perfectly on your A450.

Sony 55-300mm 4.5-5.6 SAM

A fairly newly released lens, served me well for 2 years or so and got some good shots on my A450 and A77!

.. jobs a good 'un...

(may or may not be looking to sell one)

Yeh, if thats price is for a new one its a no brainer!
