Bought my son the above camera for his 12th birthday 4 weeks ago from SLR Hut. He contributed some of his savings & was delighted.

Saturday he jumped in a swimming pool with it...with the 'wrong' back door on the case! redface

Having removed the battery etc., and left it on a rad for 48 hours, it will power on - the front screen works, the main screen on the rear does not. I have contacted SLR Hut - they simply suggest going direct to GoPro or buying a new one for £215 eek

Any suggestions? Must admit my initial reaction was to lose the head with him, but thankfully common sense intervened, it was a mistake - God knows I've made enough mistakes in my life... wink

Try leaving it in uncooked rice for a week or so.

But sounds pretty terminal...have you tried to record video with it yet?

Ahh that is so easily done! Mine almost went swimming with the open back door on until I noticed it at the very last second!! I also would leave in a bag of rice for as long as possible.

Thanks for the replies, it's currently entombed in rice.

He has already tried turning it on unfortunately - as stated, the front screen works, the rear doesn't. All buttons appear to work, he can play back videos and hear the sound, but not view them on the screen obviously. We'll leave it a few days before giving up. smile
