Upgrade - 1200d to 7d

I've had my 1200d for a little over a year and I love it. I do feel perhaps that it's time to explore better bodies (heh)

My mate works in a well known second hand shop and they're selling a 7d for a reasonable price (380 plus staff discount). My other mate will buy my 1200d for around 150.

So I could get the 7d for (man maths) 150. I'm guessing (for that price) that it's the Mk1.

Trouble is, I'm having a very lean month. So even that's a stretch.

Questions is, is it worth the upgrade?

Mostly I'd say yes its going to be a lot better.

Really depends what you shoot and what is holding you back but the 7d has a lot going for it.

viewfinder, fps, af, ergonomics etc

Well, it's motorsport season now so (hopefully!) some of that! But I really like to do everything, from landscapes to wildlife to macro.

I've struggled with low light stuff recently, but that could just be the lens I'm using (often the kit that came with the 1200d)

It has about the same sensor so noise will be similar, but yes the lens makes a huge difference.

7d will be much better for motorsports.

I think I'll hold off for now. I can kind of work around the 1200's limitations in the hope that it'll make me a better photographer. If the image quality with the 7 was going to be dramatically better just 'because' then maybe it would be worth a punt but I've a feeling the benefits (faster shots, more focus points) will probably only make me lazy! Ha.
