NIkon D7100 viewfinder issues.
Discussion
I got a D7100 moving from a D70 and I'm noticing the viewfinder doesnt show whats captured in the image. It only captures an area in the middle of the viewfinder.
It looks like this a bit:

So only the bit in the square in the middle is captured. Why does it do this.
Does it on my f1.8 35mm and f1.4 50mm. In fact, I think it does it on all my lenses.

Looks like you have it in 1.3 crop mode.
Ah!Just googled D7100 1.3 crop mode and I think you're right! I don't know how it's ended up in that mode.
I was thinking maybe my lenses weren't compatible with this body.
Why would you want to use this mode?
Found this, but I'm still not sure why you would want this?

Furthermore, when the image area of 1.3x crop of DX is selected, the angle of view becomes equivalent to that of a lens with about double the focal length in 35mm format. As the cropped frame is almost entirely covered by the focus points, the camera demonstrates even more powerful capturing capability.
If you've just got it and the settings have been fiddled with, I would recommend resetting the camera by pressing and holding the two buttons with green dots next to them. At least you know you have a base starting point in case anything else has been changed.
