Which camera?!?!?
Discussion
I was sorely tempted to purchase on of these cameras but having tried them out in JL thought they were a little bit too big, and after much consideration, went back to the Sony RX100 M3.
Having said all of that, Panasonic have just unveiled their latest Lumix L15 which has a 24-70/F1.4-2.8 Leica lens, I'm not sure about the dimensions compared to their other models but it certainly looks quite compact.

I've had a TZ25 for some years now. It has performed very well. Images have been published in magazines.
I've just been on holiday in Italy and went without a car, using buses and ferries. The TZ was easy to carry, attached to my belt, and I carried it all the time.
The range of modes is generous but the camera is a little limited. The zoom is not that extensive but with the camera supported the quality of the Zeiss lens means that it can take a lot of enlargement. I'm well pleased with the results.
The only problem I've found is that the top dial is too easy to turn inadvertently.
The camera feels of good quality and is of metal.
I'd recommend it.

I bought a Canon EOS M10 for my holidays.
I was really, really please with the IQ from this camera. And the lens is collapsible so it's not too big. Has a flip up touchscreen and APS-C sensor.
The kit lens and the 22m F2 pancake would be a great combo unless you were after mega zoom.
Get a spare batter as battery life is crap.

Personally, having already had a Panasonic TZ30 and canon SX700HS, I am being drawn to the premium large sensor cameras which trade a bigger sensor for zoom.
The candidates are the Panasonic LX100 which is a tadge too big and has a very limited zoom so I ruled that out.
The Sony RX100III and IV, both of which are very expensive and may have dust issues (but other cameras seem to have this issue too)- the IV adds 4k video and slo-mo movie capability but both have limited zoom
I am therefore torn between the Canon G7X Mk II which lacks 4k video but takes a great picture and has a rear screen which flips up and down but no viewfinder. This seems to get a lot of good reviews, regardless. It has a 4 times zoom.
The other is the Panasonic ZS100 which gets lesser reviews but has a 10x zoom.
The former is a £550 camera.
The ZS100 is available as an grey import TZ110 for nearer £400 and I am sorely tempted to try that route. I have done it before with a Nikon D5500 and it was a reasonably pain-free if slightly longer experience.
For a general all-round camera, I had been looking at the SX720HS and TZ80 as, for most holiday shots, these are perfectly adequate and have long zooms. Canon lacks a panorama shot though.

FWIW I love my Canon G7X MK 1 and would happily get MK II. IS in video is great, works much better than in Sony RX100 which makes videos much more pleasing than the 4Kness of it...The candidates are the Panasonic LX100 which is a tadge too big and has a very limited zoom so I ruled that out.
