I have a Canon DSLR camera that I need repairing...or at least someone looking at it and telling me if it's worth repairing.

I'm based South Bucks, any recommendations?

There is a Canon service centre in Elstree/Borehamwood. I would take it there personally.

What's the problem with Lehmans, they are usually quite highly rated in such threads?

Yes, I was wondering. Have used them in the past as was very pleased. Just about to drop off my MP-E65mm macro for repair!

If you're unsure if it's worth fixing or not why not have a go at trying to fix it yourself ...

I had a 550D which I wasn't willing to spend much on so I ordered the bits needed off eBay and followed the instructions on the ifixit.com site and I now have a spare camera that's left beside me in the van all the time and I'm not worried about damaging it

Thats the one.... They usually do a flat service charge too which can work out well.

Took it to Sendean however they're after quite a chunk of money. I'm not happy doing the work myself - it's quite involved!

Speak to canon elstree. They usually have a flat rate repair. I'm sure I mentions that before

Did earlier. The camera is apparently too old for Canon to look at.

Looks like it's heading for the bin then. What model is it?

No problem

If anyone lives near the OP and fancies having a look at their camera on the understanding that it may still be scrap at the end of the day then that site might be the way to go.

I'd help ..... but I reckon Ireland might be a bit far to travel of an evening
