Equipment insurance for one off trip to Marrakesh
Discussion
Be careful when taking photos of locals. I mean it. He tried to stab me with the knife seeing me taking this photo and it wasn't the only example of how unfriendly and hostile locals in Marrakesh were. Really horrible place in my opinion. Apparently it gets MUCH better in the rest of Morocco but I don't think I can be bothered to discover it.

As for insurance - get annual one with Photoguard shortly before the trip, cancel when back within 14 days cooling off period if you won't need to claim.

Home insurance would cover the kit usually, under the Clothing & Personal Effects section if you have this for stuff for items away form the home Laptops, jewellery etc then usually covered overseas for upto 30 days.
You usually choose a figure for your "un-specified effects" this should be the total kit with you out and about - I always say consider a long weekend in the UK away. For me this Watch and Missus Ring, Her Camera Kit, My lap top and phone, her phone & I- Pad plus a bag and then the clothes - surprising how the numbers add up if the lot got nicked.
You should build in the camera kit to the home insurance to get the cover for out and about as this is where the claims tend to occur. Far more likely to drop it outside than at home.
Just watch the SAL Single Article Limit often £1,000 or £1,500 on a standard home policy. But remember the body is a single article, then plus the lens, plus bag, cards and so on so possibly enough.
If over the SAL you can specify the kit i.e "£5K SLR Body, Lens & Accessories" this is wide enough to pick up the odds and ends rather than just the body. The net result would mean it is insured in the UK at Home and anywhere in the world for your usual holidays.
Don't rely on bog standard travel cover the basic products have silly low Single Article Limits like £250.00 for "valuables" which mean you will get no where. In the event of a Travel claim they usually contact your home insurers and make them pay toward the claim anyway hence there is an option to EXCLUDE the cover under the travel to make it neater.
IMO - best value is to check / add to your home insurance or consider a standalone policy for all your Kit if the number gets say over 10K.
Whilst in full on insurance mode, an annual holiday travel is prob best value if you travel twice a year or more, free cover from banks is usually Europe and Couple only so be sure to extend it. Finally, DISCLOSE anything medical on travel insurance it is the main reason claims are turned down!
