Upgrading Fuji Camera

Hi...

I've a couple of Fuji cameras an XE1 and an X10 both of which have served me well.

I take mainly landscape and urban / street pictures.

I'm thinking of upgrading - I love the form factor and build quality of the XE1 and was wondering if anyone has an XE4 or XE5 and can advise if these newer models are worth the cost to upgrade?

Also looking at alternatives and the XT5 jumps out at me as maybe an option - any users on here who can share experiences?

I don't have experience of any XE cameras, but I do have a FUji GFX 100s and an X-T5.
I have also owned a few different APS-C and FF Nikon cameras.

I've had the X-T5 for a month or two and love it. I get similar colours to the GFX without the massive bulk. Lenses are much more compact and cheaper.

The only thing with the X-T5 is the Fuji dial system, which most will probably love or hate. Most digital cameras I've owned had PASM dials, but having shot a lot of fully manual unmetered film cameras, I didn't find switching to using the dials any problem.

At the moment, I only have two lenses for the X-T5. An 18-300mm Tamron, which is good as a walkabout lens in good lighting conditions. And a 27mm f2.8 Fujinon, which is a pancake and makes the camera very compact.

I'd heartily recommend the X-T5. I'm keeping mine, and even thinking of selling the GFX.

I haven't tried the X-E bodies but have an X-T1 and X-T3, really enjoy using them and find the dial system very intuitive. My favourite lenses for them are the 14mm f2.8 and 23mm f2.

AF tracking performance has always been their biggest weakness compared to my Nikons, whether that matters depends what you are shooting with them - not an issue for landscape etc, just not so good for motorsport or wildlife.

I've recent bought a Nikon Z5ii to delve into full frame and I think it is a decent step up in image quality (especially in low light) plus the AF is really in another league, but it is a fair bit bigger and heavier too (especially the lenses). No free lunch.

X-T5 owner here (and X-M1) previously X-Pro3. Love it and I bought Fuji specifically for the dials (previous Sony A7iii).

Some great small lenses, good zooms and lovely colours. I love the film sims.

I find AF very good and for most subjects any criticism of AF is not relevant but, that is probably the only negative you will see in any reviews.

If you are based in the UK, Fuji do free 48 hour test drives, which would be a good option to try an X-E5.
