Can anyone tell me what is the correct idle speed for an S1 mine ticks over at 1400 rpm which seems high. It is also missing when accelerating, the car has been idel for some time does it just need a good blow out.

IIRC they say about 950 in the Ford book.
Although mine seems quite happy anywhere between 600 - 800.

When cold, mine idles around 1000, but drops to 900 quite quickly... and when warm sits at 800rpm...

(all as indicated by the rev counter )

I'm having similar problems. Mine idles nicely at anything over 1200 revs but is lumpy below that. It also smells very rich if tickover is low.
