What colour suits you sir?
Discussion
Yeah I know ....it's a bit of a girlie thing to be too concerned with the colour of the car but it's important.
I eventually want to get the S re-sprayed and just wondered what the general opinion is for "best colours". It's currently dark blue (not sure of the origin of this paint but it is very very close to peugeot midnight blue). It does tend to show every mark and therefore is not as smart as it could be and I want to have it sprayed. I also want to keep it blue because I'd have to change carpets, roof and dash/seat trim colour but I'm not sure what type of blue will suit.
So, what do you think .....seen any nice blue shades out there, not too dark again mind?
I've seen plenty of Fiat Puntos that are a nice light pearl blue colour, could look nice??

as I was saying on a thread re Wildfire S3's respray, the nicest colour I have seen was like a metallic plum purple on IIRC a V8S that was pictured in Sprint in the "picture this" section. Was stunning but went through all my back copies of sprint to try and scan the picture for Chris to no avail, couldnt find it.
Forgive my ignorance but what is "IIRC"??
Have seen it used a bit on the forum but was clear on meaning!
The purple colour sounds nice, any ideas on what it was anyone?
I have considered a Chameleon type colour as used on some later Tivs but I think it's probably a tad too modern for the style of the car and very possibly rather too expensive!
I think the current dark blue (non-metallic) looks nice until you get close and see all the swirls and blemishes. Perhaps a dark metallic is better?
Also, I've been quoted around £1500 - £2000 for a colour change, does that sound reasonable or can anyone recommend a good independent one man body shop with better rates?

IIRC = if i remember (or recall) correctly.
sorry, cant confirm the colour but it was modern, but without being too modern for the S. A sort of "just modern enough".
The Chameleon type colours are too modern for the S in my opinion. I have seen a chimaera with this paint and in my view its too modern for that too - so an S would look even sillier. If you did want to take this route however its not that expensive. You want to have a look on the net at Rage paints. Less expensive than you would expect seeing as the premium TVR charge for the paint is so high
£1500 - £2000 sounds about average for a total respray on an S
Hi Mike,
Thanks, I'll have to check those colours out.
Saw you on M&M a few weeks back and I may be a little bit biased but I think your V8S was far nicer, unique and more fun than the Porker, you should have won!
Your car is looking great too, the interior is very nice indeed.
Has Mr Sheens V8S been on Top Gear yet? I hope that I haven't missed it. I generally like Clarkson but I do hope he isn't too rude about our beloved marque.

Hello,
While we're chatting about S-colours. I'm a happy S1-owner since a couple of weeks (what a grin!). Mine's had a new paintjob when imported from germany. It's silver-grey (with grey interiour, exteriour used to be red).
does anyone know if the S was originally sold in silver grey ??
cheers
(by the way, i'm from the netherlands, hence ze german TVR)

there are a few silver greyish colours around. check out my old S3 on my profile which is a dark grey. Ted's old S4 which is now owned by Up the batty matty, or something like that, is a slightly lighter grey shade, as is the one owned by Psychobert. M@H's also looks a silver colour on his S1

Yes, it's very nice indeed, so is that mica blue?
KentishS2 said:It cant have been this colour as it wasnt around then, your original colour was probably Mica blue which is similar, but slightly darker!
I think it is the same colour that my S used to be until the previous owner opted for dark non-metallic blue.
I like both!
Mike
Hi Mike,
If anything the original colour of mine looks like it may have been slightly lighter than the blue in the photo above. Did TVR have a similar lighter shade?
The original colour of my car (some stone chips at rear of car behind rear wheels underneath)looks very much like a Ford colour as was popular on the Fiesta and Escort circa 1990.
I'm not so sure I would like the original colour of mine, it was a bit too bright/cobalt blue.
