Well its took a while but my interior retrim is finished (except for a few aluminium goodies) I have completely retrimmed the roll bar as the trimmer didnt do a good job and its now how I expected it, here are the before and after pics!

Before

After

I am very happy with the results, and it looks a different car to the one a bought!

Looking forward to the S meet see you all soon.

Mike

Hi Mike,

I re-watched my tape of you and your lovely machine on the M&M prog over the weekend. It's a shame that they didn't see it finished, it looked good before but now it's really superb.

One quick question, did you re-colour or re-face the doors, dash and seats etc?

Thanks Kevin, I am pleased with it, yes a little disappointed that it wasnt finished for the TV programme but sadly it wasnt possible.

The whole interior has been retrimmed, seats, doors, tunnel, dash, roll bar, roof panels & carpets so it looks like new.

Cheers

Mike

Mike - that looks fantastic !

If you don't mind me asking - where did you get it done and what was the cost? Only I'm thinking of getting mine done at some point (after I've sorted the chassis etc).

Cheers

Thanks, I like it! It was done at A&R Pound in Baldock, the guy there is Fred! He has done an OK job, the finish is not perfect, I have had to finish off the A pillars/around the windscreen myself. I also had to get a spare dash to trim and then swap them over, as he wouldnt tackle the dash (dont blame him) I also did the roll bar myself too as he did a bit a bodge job so I ripped it off and started again. The full trim was only £600 in leather/Vinyl so cant complain really, its a good price and that includes the roof panels too!

Very nice Mike. I like the trimmed roll-bar... could be tempted to the same.

Are you going for a selection of 'shiny bits' also? I remember you mentioning the dial bezels being custom made for you.

Another job I would like to do is to retrim the dash top in a dark colour. It is currently the same (doe skin?) light colour as the seats and can leads to some irritating reflections on the inside of the windscreen. The trans tunnel and piping is in dark green, so it would be good to match that. Not sure how difficult/expensive this would be?

That'll be because it's all new Mike!

It is all looking very smart now - you must be well chuffed!

Cheers! Yes still waiting on the shiny bits, the guys sort of semi retired so not the quickest! I am waiting for gearknob and handbrake, but I think I might just get the bezels from LeeBee as it would be much quicker!

The roll bar you can do yourself, its not that difficult!
I think that changing the top of the dash, would be an advantage as it must be a nightmare for reflections on a really sunny day?? But I think it would be expensive! to take out the dash and put it back in again at a garage is about £200 (Ive just had it done) and as the whole skin from the dash would have to come off and then stitch in the new part and glue back, I would be surprised if it would cost less than £300-£350 in total which is a lot of money just for the dash top! Unless you fancy taking the dash out yourself

Here are some better pictures (this is an S3 I did last week, all it needs now is an air vent bezel/knob kit)

The only thing is Lee, my speedo/rev counter dials are set into the wood, rather than on top of it! I will take a photo so you can tell me if there is enough clearance around the dials for the covers! Whats your e-mail address? as the last time I treid your link on PH it did not work.

Cheers
