Hello all.

4 weeks ago half my roof suddenly blew off on the m25. I was unable to retrieve it. The insurance company have just told me I'm not insured.

Does anyone know where I can get another? It's the drivers side that's missing. I don't really want to have to stump up for a brand new one.

Looks like you're not alone (see other thread further down).

Sounds like a good time to have a folding frame made up to replace the hard panels, then join it to the rear folding section and have it covered by a coach trimmer. Could still make it removable if you wanted with similar catches as the front. I'm thinking about doing this with mine.

Sorry, can't help with the hard panel except to say it can't have been a very pleasant experience and a bit difficult to look cool with all the other motorists gawping."Year! I meant to do that!"

Kentish S2? more on the replacement of the panels with a flexible section.I have thought this was a good idea but would not know where to start making enquiries or what a good price would be.Any more info or reccomendations?

I am F908 and also in Kent.
Cheers.

Hi F908!

I'm G865, I think we are both blue aren't we?

We shall have to arrange a get together for a at some point, also see if we can get any other lads & lasses along with their Tiv.

I know a couple of companies who can do either the frame and covering or just covering with me making the frame. I got a quote of £1400 for the whole lot including fiting to the car afterwards. I thought this was a bit steep so I will at some point make a wood frame as a prototype, see how it fits and then reproduce it in metal and have it covered. Perhaps we can get the prices down if we can get a few owners interested?

I may have a go at two versions, one with stay bars that are not sewn into the fabric similar to new Lotus roof panel. Tis is some way off yet but I'll keep posting as progress is made.

Um, no - not the most pleasant experience and could have (but luckily didn't) caused an accident. Obviously shortly afterwards it started raining.

Would like to know more about the folding roof...

Podie - any particular breakers yards in mind?

Try Douglas Valley... they've always got a few TVRs around.

Unfortunately no joy at Douglas Valley. They say that I'll probably have to buy new panels from TVR - this sounds pricey?

Have a look on the alternative parts list, I did post a link to a company who make panels for the S series but I can't remember whether they included the roof.

Sorry, I can't look at the moment as I appear to have just landed myself with a load of work to take home shortly!

checking old forums found this

If you need a new roof panel... TVR are the peolple . Around £600.

the Griff/Chimaera ones don't fit. Even if they did they are more expensive....

looks like i will have to try and repair my damaged panel

Perhaps a fishing umbrella would do for a while?

the Griff and Chim roof is a single section unlike the S Series two piece, also the Griff and Chim roof is carbon-fibre, unlike the fiberglass of the S (perhaps explaining the price difference.)

Hi G865, KentishS2. Blue it is.A pint is always a good idea in my book and the more S2 heads the better.
Do you get to the Windmill in Hollingbourne where Johno told me there was a meet every 3rd Wednesday of month ? Is this still so and do other F90...'s make it? Keen to keep abreast of softtop options.
Cheers, Tim.

Bell Hill advertise breaking an S in this month's Sprint (www.bellhillgarage.co.uk 01373 834252) and it might be worth trying David Gerald (01386 793237)who found me a "used" rev counter recently when mine packed up
