Can anyone smell petrol !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone got any ideas why my S3 stinks of petrol in the cabin when I fill her up, it only lasts for about 1/2 hour, it does not matter whether I put £5 or £25 in the result is the same so I think that rules out overfilling.

Have you checked the small breather
pipe hose inside the boot ? At least
the my S2 has one and after some recent work it wasn't connected
properly and i had the same results
as your describe. Could be its started to perish or came loose.
Other problem i had was after fitting
a new stainless tank it suffered from
a slight weeping from one of the joints and this also resulted in fumes in the cab.

Out of interest, where did you go for a stainless tank and if it's not too rude a question how much did it cost? I've have been looking around and found aluminium tanks at a good price but stainless will be stronger.

Perhaps there is a leak in the filler neck?

Fuel tank came from Steve Reid see
his advert in Sprint (01928 719267)
can't lay my hands on the invoice
right now but im sure it was around
£345.00 total.

Thanks Jim, that sounds pretty good for a Stn Steel tank.

My tank is fine save for the sender unit keep leaking where it faces onto the side of the tank. After a new sender and gasket it still leaks a bit so the only solution is a new tank.
