Right then, I’m off. The old girl is going to cared for much better by a nice gent in Pompey. Keep your ears out. I’ve also pointed him towards PH.

I just wanted to say thank you to what must be the best, most friendly, most useful forum on the web. In the last year I have learned more about mechanics than I ever thought there was to know in the first place. I can now change a throttle pot, plugs, leads, coil, check for blown HG, etc etc…. That might sound comically lowbrow to the greasier monkeys among you ( ‘yeah, I’m going to strip the gearbox and repaint the training arms’ – jeez!) but to someone who a year ago didn’t know a plenum chamber from a filler cap, these are major advances. I’ve gained in confidence, if not skills.

Why am I selling? Only one parking space. Simple, so I’m going to be a sad refugee in the VW section for a few weeks, then hopefully moving to an M3. I know, I know, I know…. don’t start. The bread knife can’t/won’t drive the tiv, so it’s compromise or divorce. It was a close thing.

I’ve wanted a TVR since I was 15, and hopefully I’ll get another one day. But I feel like I have achieved something for a change ( I am one of life’s low fliers), and I’m well proud of it. But I would have pushed her into the sea a couple of times if it hadn’t been for you lot. Advice has always been heart-felt and knowledgeable – precisely what the Internet was made for. Not to mention calming in a minor crisis – when someone else has the same experiences, it makes it funny rather than stressful.

Best moments – the noise of the third Brighton burble going through that high-walled village, third gear through Southwick tunnel, and being flagged down outside a club in the city centre to give the lads a listen to Blackpool’s finest steel tubing. The guy who fitted my stereo telling me it will be ‘good to listen to when I’m parked up on the hard shoulder’ git - and wrong!… Also, being bibbed and flashed by any TVR on the road. I have never experienced that kind of brotherhood outside biking. I will really, really miss that. I think it’s because, like bikers, we all know what each other goes through to enjoy our machines. Not sure I’ll be able to stop it, so if any of you get waved at or signalled to by a random twit in a red golf, it’s me.

Worst moment – the immobiliser randomly switching bits off. Swine. Took ages to work that one out. Thanks for everyone’s advice and help tho’.

Funniest moment – finally twigging what ‘TADTS’ means…. Surely no other marque has a more apt abbreviation in regular usage.

In the words of Vinny – it’s been emotional. Maybe see you all at VW next year, in a dull, boring German motorway muncher.

Walsingham.

Craig....

Funk me..

What a bummer, I've just read your post out loud to the Missus in the other room...I think she understands at last what these cars mean to us...

What a sad story... I know you have had your TVR troubles but... I'm really gutted for you, Having to sell the Tiv...

Are you still looking to come up this way...?

There's a ride if you need it to the local meets..

Did you really type M3 rather tha S3 in your post...

Dave

Cheers dave. I'll definitely get in touch when I finally get to Berks. It's taking a while to sort. Long story, but still going to happen asap. Would love a ride to a meet. MIght be a bit tearful though

Didn't really have that many troubles. Only the TP and the immobiliser playing about. I got off pretty lightly, all thiings considered. You're a brave man telling the missus about someone choosing a wife oevr a tiv... let's hope she doesn't challenge you.,...

I'll still check the forum, so I'll be in touch.

Sad to read your post mate...

The best advice I can give is to find a nice early chimaera with PAS, then get her to test drive it... If you're lucky you'll soon find that you "must have" a Chimaera.

All the best with everything.

Cheers,
Matt.

Sorry to hear that you've had to say farewell - I hope your wife appreciates your sacrifice!

Having twice come close to losing the S (once because of potentially expensive chassis repairs, and once because of being rear-ended), I've had a little taste of that sinking feeling!

Hope it's not too long before you're back in a TVR.
