I noticed in my owners manual that vinyl was standard.

It certainly looks like it, looks quite nice too IMO. From a practical perspective it saves the hassle of waterproofing every few months etc

I guess it kinda looks a bit old fashioned these days as most modern rag tops have a cloth roof covering. But I agree that it should be more water resistant and I think it looks pretty good too.
