Help needed ! (S2 window switch and lights)
Discussion
I have just discovered piston heads (Fantastic!) and was hoping that someone might be able to help!
I have an S2 (1989) (G) and need to replace the broken electric window switch’s that are mounted in the dash. Some one told me that they are from a ford but which one!!!? Also the front indicator lens's are in a bad way. Would these also be from a ford model? If so which one !!!? Would you know of the best place to get the bits? Can I get them cheaper from a ford dealer or from a TVR? And just one more thing the main head lights only work in the sidelight position or when I flash them on main beam any idea what could be wrong?
Thank you to anyone who takes time out to answer this query for me.
Regards
Steve
The front indicator lenses are from a Leyland Daf Sherpa van (might want to keep that one quiet!
), and you can get them directly from a company called AutoFast; the part number is BAU2249.
If neither of the headlights are working it's probably one of three things:
1. Both bulbs are gone (unlikely I would've thought). If you do need new bulbs, get some Philips Vision plus ones from PowerBulbs. Not cheap, but much brighter!
2. The fuse has gone - IIRC there's a single fuse for both dipped beams.
3. The multi-connectors are naffed. These are located somewhere aft of the lights (normally behind the inner arches if the S2 has those), and you might find that the headlights start working if you jiggle each one (you might also find that the sidelight/full beam/indicator stops working). If this proves to be the problem, then you'll need to give the connectors a good clean.
Not sure about the window switches I'm afraid.
Hope that helps.

If you look at the switches page on this site, the ones shown at the top looked like they'll fit when I looked at them in the flesh at a show a few weeks ago.

This is a good supplier, I've had many parts from him over the years.
