Gear Knob!

Hi all.
Hope you all enjoyed today at Silverstone, while I had to work.
Tipical. New car, first meet and I am working.

Anyway.
1990 S3 with laquered aloy knob in need of re-finnishing. How do you remove it!!!!!
It has no visible grub screws and won't budge by turning it...
Any ideas?

It probably has a collar around the bottom that you screw off downwards, and that exposes the grub screw in the bottom.
