S2's and TP's !
Discussion
Last night I ordered a new Cerbi TP for the S2 because although its presently running fine we all learn the damn things are going to play up again before long and I wanted a spare.Sensible Eh ?
Pleased as puch, Kevin gave me the part number,it was in stock and it should be in the post to me today to get on Saturday morning... Great.
This morning... Start up in garage and the revs soar away up to 2200 and stay there! Brilliant! So much for the spare!
(Only a bit embaressing in the car park with engine racing like I am boyracer at the lights!)
Bloody things! ...I hope its only the TP or we are in for a serious talk this weekend!
Oh good...its raining again!
Cheers all. Tim.

Hi Kevin. Think Knickers became twisted in translation!I was referring to the old one having gone down this morning before the new one arrives.
Trust replacement will have it fixed and will then need to order yet another if I still want a spare.
Perhaps it was all to early!
Best, Tim.

Sorry Tim, I grabbed the wrong end of that one (steady Podie).
Thought you had put the new one on and kept the old as the spare (that's what I have done as I discovered mine was OK, just a faulty connector). I guess mine would have failed again soon anyway!
That's good, I'm glad yours is fine and that I gave a bit of good advice and that the heavy mob won't come knocking!

You have to keep a sense of humor with these throttle pots don't you !
I went back to carpark lunchtime and checked as I had left the TP disconnected this morning to let it dry if it was damp.though as it's garaged and tucked in every night I dont know why it would be)
Now the bloody thing runs at 1500rpm with it disconnected and back at a steady 800 when it is!!!
So what was the 2200 rpm about this morning then?
Hurry up Royal Mail,I want my new Cerbie pot before I loose my rag.
Cheers all. Tim.

When my V8S did this it was the stepper motor, or as it is called on the V6S the idle control valve.
Cheers,
Paul
Oh my god!
Not another sensor to go wrong, where's the V6 idle control valve?
Uhhm might get me some twin choke webbers and a new inlet manifold!
In the same area as the throttle pot, there are links on this site to www.tvrsseries.com which explain all.
You can count yourself lucky, my daily driver is A Vauxhall Omega which has more sensors than you can shake a stick at and regularly goes into "limp home mode" and restricts me to 50mph, which is great when you are 100 miles from home.
Bugsy

Don't talk to me about Vauxhall Omegas, the only car to ever let me down, and the cow did it TWICE! The local dealer could not resolve it despite many opportunites and diagnostic equipment, once out of warranty I took it to a non-vauxhall dealer who found the problem in 30 mins flat. I will never buy another Vauxhall after the way I was treated by them, they couldn't have been more dis-interested, all excuses under the sun, from "there is nothing wrong with it" to "they all do that".

it's the "silver thingy" that you asked about in another thread yesterday![]()
Ahh so the air bypass valve (as described in this thread) and the idle control valve (as described in the other thread) are one and the same.
