Firstly, can I say these forums are fantastic. I bought my S3 a couple of weeks back and have found the threads invaluable.
My question is with the hood.
I remember reading someone treating the hood with a waterproofing agent, but can't remember what it was. It wasn't a special hood waterproofer.
Any ideas....
Also, can I drive with the rear part of the hood up, without the hard top panels, or does it need to be folded flat with out the panels...

I would guess the waterproofing for tents would do the job but I`m just about to do mine this weekend with the kit from Renovo advertised on PH its made for the job I`ll let you know what it`s like(it cost about £54.00 but thats cleaner, colour restorer, waterproofer and plastic window restorer)hope that helps.Bob
The waterproofing you may want is called Fabsil. Basically the same stuff you would use to waterproof bricks etc. As for the roof, you can drive with it down or up, with one or both of the panels fitted.
TIP--when folding the roof down, put a rolled up towel in the folded area, helps to stop the rear window creasing and cracking

The best proofer for roofs is "Thompsons water seal for bricks". Yes you read that right. I first saw it mentioned on here and it works great. Did mine two weeks ago and have not had any leaks yet, despite the major downpours we had at the weekend.

Yes it's realy effective on the hood but be sure to buy the correct one as there are two different types.
The one you MUST use shows on the can that it is for brick concrete and wood and other materials, it's clear in colour too.
The other type is a milky colour and is for use on brick and masonry only and I'm sure that it would make a soft top look like a huge seagull had just dumped all it had on your soft top!
I've used the type I first mention on my hood too and I have no leaks at all, not from the hood anyway
