Having now got my seats out I can see the remains of my seat diaphragms are lying as a rust coloured dust on the carpet... I don't even know what they looked like originally (zig zagged cloth covered springy wire?). Anyone managed to replace these themselves? A google search reveals a company selling tr7 spares but no others.

Otherwise any contacts for a nice pair of cream/magnolia leather seats not not too much ££ (ones in Sprint have gone -I've checked)

Mine were the same. I used squares cut to shape from a camping roll mat foam (high density foam) from Millets £4.99 and some para cord (strong low strech nylon cord) laced in a latice through the springs that used to hold the wire lattice, in place of the wires.

Since done 6,000 miles in the last 12 months with no seat sag. Job took about 30 mins to do both seats.

My seats have done the same. I found lots of bits of rusty metal wire and spring debris on the carpets under both seats, so I guess that all the support has rusted away. I am planning on removing the seats, easier said than done judging from other postings lately, and re-constructing the seat support mesh.

Any pics or further info would be appreciated.

Guys,
See my posting a couple of days ago re: seats. (If I knew how to, I'd give you the link).
The diaphragms are no longer available, but can be substituted by 'pirelli' webbing-which won't ever rust. Assume you can get this from trimmers or upholsterers. Nick (hants)

I never found any seat diaphragms, but I did find some condoms in the glove box...

Sorry, but the seat is back in the car.(and I dont have a digital camera!!)
The diaphragm is the tape covered wire thingy (looking like a fish backbone) that is under the foam of the seat cushion.
My local trimmers say they are no longer available but reckoned that their fix of over-covering the foam with hessian and then replacing the diaphragm with pirelli webbing streched across the metal frame was just as good...and as commented - wont rust.
The repair was initially prompted by a need to get a few tears stiched...but you know how it is, once the seat was out it made sense to do a pukka job.
Good luck. Nick.
