Does anyone know what make/type of rear number plate fits the S. It's a smaller size than standard and fits snuggly into the recess?

I don't fancy sanding the ends down as the backing is likely to start peeling.

I recently fitted new plates, if you specify ("standard" ie without an outline) you can easily cut 1/4" off each end (yes really, not 1/2" off one end which would look terrible). I used a Dremel motorised saw which I usually use for thick balsa or light plywood, the point being it has a very fine blade and leaves virtually no "flash", especially if you leave the covering on the plates while you cut. The plastic used in numberplates is easily sandable, I got an excellent result in 15 mins for the whole job including rounding-off the corners, the backing remained completely undamaged.

Whoever is going to make the plate for you tell them the size and they may cut it for you. If not its easy enough to cut with a fine saw and the layers shouldn't peel apart. (Didn't on mine)

www.fancyplates.com/index.html do custom ones. You can specify the size, logo etc but still keep the font legal.

Edit to add: they also don't print any stuff at the bottom of the plate - unless you want something there.

Thanks to all.

Re: fancyplates, I think they are the guys I saw at a show who made me my special VW plates and they did a cracking job.

I didn't know they do differing sizes, so I may give them a call for a set.

Cheers

The COnstructor looks good. You can get TVR logos on them!

Be careful when ordering, the rear plate is NOT standard size IIRC its approx 20mm narrower (side to side) than standard.

Fancyplates will make to your required size
