I made a new bracket out of aluminium, held on by 2 self tapping screws. Very easy.

I just went through from the boot with a self tapper the right length into the trim and it worked fine.

Did this job yesterday, just got some stainless steel sheet and cut a strip the size of the slot in the rubber (slide it into the rubber and bend roughly the shape of the bonnet, then just self tap into the metal from the inside of the wheel arch (pilot drill it first though!)

Cheers

LeeBee
P.S I have seen these stay on for quite some time just using silicon sealer (not my doing though!)

Noooo, the rear bumper but you knew that!

As LeeBee said, silicone also works well.

Could also use the black mastic stuff that dries hard but flexi like body corking, very good stuff dries very firm and permanent. Can't remember what it's called but I think partco used to stock it and it's for bonding and sealing body panels.

Second the silicon type stuff use a marine grade sealant/adhesive from someone like Sikaflex, 291 rings a bell do you have any yatch chandlers your way pies .
It'll last a lifetime in the marine environment so should be OK on the Tiv. btw don't actually think its silicon though, something like eurethane or some such.

Thanks Harry, the name I couldn't remember for the sealer I mentioned above was SIKAFLEX. Top stuff too and isn't really siicone, it's far more permanent. I bonded a windscreen in with it once and it was brilliant stuff. It basically dries like a really hard and flexible rubber.
