Seen ads to update the back drums to discs, a kit that can be done at home. Has anyone done this? If so any good?

This something I have plans to do (in the future mind, as I have not even got the car in my grubby hands yet!) At the same time I was planning upgrading to an LSD. This I believe could all come off the same car, a Sierra XR4x4. Just have to make sure the flanges on the diff are the same as you have already and I think you also need the hub carrier as well for the calliper mounts but not certain. Perhaps someone else knows as I feel rather a frawd being so new.

Can't you just paint the drums body coloured, it looks nice .
Seriously though I don't think its a cheap job to do.

after what you have spent on getting that performance its a drop in the ocean

I was thinking of mailing the chap who advertises in the back of Sprint just to get an idea of price. Brakes on project S will be upgraded at the front just to the Griff 500 discs but still worried the drums at the back will struggle, even with only 20% of the braking there. (or whatever it is)

I will be at Joolz's place tomorrow so will chew the fat on this.

Something else I forgot to mention. The handbrake cable will need to be changed/modified as the one for drums ends in a nipple and for discs an eye. So it is
'an eye for a nipple'

Phil, what are you actually planning to do to the car?

I found some information on this at the Kit Car show earlier this year.

There was a company doing a conversion kit for around £200 - £250 IIRC.

I will try to find the details and will post them.

I do recall that some work was required to modify the handbrake cable nipple/connecting point.

There may a be a discount to be had if there are a few takers.
